Yeah .. it really did
Maybe the worst decision ever made in a wt race i can remember
And what are the organizers thinking .... I mean, Tejay has always had to tolerate criticism, but he always had sympathy among the audience... now i think he become a unpopular rider ... at least if it's true he agrees the decision and actually defends it .... if I where Tejay, i would give the Jersey to Asgreen to show understanding of justice ... but he didn't

johnpnewman [Road Rash] Saturday 18.May 05:14, 2019
Viktor, I believe almost everyone who follows cycling agrees with you. That was a bad call. It's 3 kilometers. Not 4. What next, move the finish line? Those were hardly exigent circumstances that required such a call. Justice was served cold on Mount Baldy.

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Saturday 18.May 01:53, 2019
I firstly thought it was only a terrible call from the jury pressured by the organisation. But Van Garderen himself called it justice or something along those lines, making me happy with his horrible performance on Mount Baldy.

And I don't get the link from the jury between Tejay and compensation for those affected by the crash on 3.5 km, because of his own position way behind that crash in the peloton. The worst part is not even the stretching of the rule on 3 km or the unpunished drafting, but the whole way that Van Garderen can not have lost time due to others. His own crash was at 10 km and he was still 15+ seconds behind the bunch at the time of that second crash. With the preparation on the sprint with high class WT riders (increased speed) and the fact he rode on an unfamiliair bike of a colleague, it was highly unlikely he would have been able to return, even with the help of his car.

For something similar in the Tour Dumoulin lost 50 seconds. Something like that here as well would have been true justice.

Looking forward to see Tejay drop like a sack of potatoes today :D

sker [Team Paracarri] Friday 17.May 11:24, 2019
watched again the episode. By rule it should have been an extra penalization for excessive motorpacing behind his team car, plus the exact time he had on the finish.
Just outside doesn't make any sense and he wasn't even in the group when it happened!

Beginning to understand why no bookmakers ever give odds on Cali. Only WT event that they don't as far as I know.

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Thursday 16.May 23:23, 2019
Rules is anyway that only riders in the crash should get same time, not those behind peloton at that time, so Tejay should not be included anyway. And with it outside 3 km makes it just extremely strange decision.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Thursday 16.May 23:14, 2019

Even more bizarre, the big crash occurred at 3.5k. They don't have a leg to stand on. Simply making the rules up. I blame Donald Trump.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Thursday 16.May 21:19, 2019
20th FC-manager overall - 6th FC-manager last 6 weeks
They have said the big crash which occurred inside the final 3k prevented Tejay making it back onto the peloton Even though at the time of that crash he must of been 20-30 seconds behind the riders involved in that crash. There is a slight possibility he may have made it back. But you don't get rules with words like perhaps, maybe, slight chance/possibility involved. Purely a hometown decision imo.

I'm sure Donald Trump will probably be blamed somehow :D But meh, Tejay will likely throw it away in classic Tejay fashion anyway, race jury can't save him when he cracks.

sker [Team Paracarri] Thursday 16.May 20:57, 2019
I mean if they are WT they have the same set of rules of the other races. I'm not aware of a rule that applies in this case. Would love to see the official explanation.
If Koronin you have more info on this matter please share it, I'm genuinely curious.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Thursday 16.May 17:55, 2019

Think we should dump Cali from managers. WT or not you should not be able to change the rules to the advantage of anyone.

Only just seen this. Flabbergasted. Hometown advantage to the nth degree.

The general consensus of the responses of readers of the Dutch languaged Wielerflits is not very happy either.

Hahaha ... Feltet.dk is not happy ... i THINK i notice an undertone in this report :D

sker [Team Paracarri] Thursday 16.May 06:28, 2019
Wait are they even allowed to neutralize the race before the 3km mark? The fall happened way before and Van garderen was already in the back from many km. This smells like bullshit to still have one american rider in the lead

Koronin [Koronin] Wednesday 15.May 05:46, 2019
Of course NBC sports ends coverage right after Cavagna wins the stage for hockey pre game stuff and tells we can watch the end of the race on NBC Gold which is pay only streaming. Had to go find a European link to watch the end of the race. Yes, even races in the US we (in the US) may not actually be able to watch on US TV or streaming.

sker [Team Paracarri] Wednesday 15.May 05:27, 2019
Quickstep is amazing to me. They came here with the B team (mainly for Jacobsen you would think) and not only they have a stage and a chance of GC victory with Asgren but also they exploit the relax of the peloton to get a win with Cavagna on a mountain stage!

Thought the Americans were good at this moving picture lark. Camera work on this stage has been abysmal.

Sagan's 17th stage win in this race last night :D ... plus one GC from 2015 ( unforgettable fight for limit losts of seconds against Alaphilippe on the queen stage ... missed it by 1 second though, but took it back when he was 3rd on the final stage and took 4 bonus seconds ), 7 point jerseys and one youth jersey ... I THINK Sagan dig this race :D

Startlist certainly now final.

Although no numbers yet, you can take Startlist to be final as the riders on the list at the moment were the riders at team presentation last night (or have since flown in in the case of Dennis).

Was he on a tricycle? Best chance of him staying upright.

I have seen Porte doing recon of Empire Pass, didn't knew his big goal this season was Tour of Utah.

Whaaaat ?? .... Axelgaard post his preview before we have this sacret race on our topline :D
Bad news for all of us... Porte is racing with ambitions :D
