Manager Review 2019 comments [newest on top]

Not a chance .... However... if you pick top 9 picks in correct order every time throughout the season... you beat Ruvu 🤣
so thats one way to use the stars perfectly ...
Thats the beauty of it .... the combination of non ranked stars and the ranking system on our teams.... it's just perfect.... why change something perfect ?

Koronin [Koronin] Monday 28.Oct 02:47, 2019
The stars are most helpful for races that the manager may not know and when a large number of teams in the race aren't well known as well. Are you going to win just by picking starred riders, very unlikely.

Just selecting 9 riders that have stars won't get you far. You need to have them in the correct order and have a good distribution between GC and sprinters in the stage races. Having a rider on 125% instead of 150% might make all the difference in a one day race. And sometimes just having that one rider that's selected only 25 times instead of one that's made it into 75 teams but fails (both have stars if I recall correctly) is the difference between winning and ending up 80th.

So in short: while stars might seems like you don't have to put in as much research it's not a quick way to win this thing.

It must be a goal to get more people involved in the game. Do not think the removal of stars, or to systematically follow so-called experts is the way to go to achieve good results. Understanding the individual cyclist's training period and motivation for the races is, in my opinion, much more important. Wants the current system to be continued in 2020.

Minos [DatRadlers] Thursday 24.Oct 20:33, 2019
I think without the stars the same people would be in front. In order to win, you also need information about the course, the weather, about the drivers and their SHAPE, etc .. I do not think that someone (like Ruvu) wins because of the stars, in my opinion he just has a great knowledge (and sees all race on eurosport, maybe). So please leave it that way, it's also better for newbies.

a non Axelgaard competition on the other hand... that would be a great twist to the game ... i mean, we have alot of games he doesn't preview ...

Learn to handle the stars ... that's how you win this thing...
Tomas!! it has to stay exactly as it is ... The stars appears as the players pick ... THAT'S what makes the course

oh I see, trolling..funny stuff

No stars. No Axelgaard. Would be perfect. Could you organize a hitman for Axelgaard, Tomas? :)

BenAffleck [BackstreetBoysN1Fan] Thursday 24.Oct 15:50, 2019
How about the lower you are on the rankings the more bonus information you get, we can turn this game into Mario Kart.

Tomas [Second Coming] Thursday 24.Oct 15:48, 2019
22th FC-manager overall
Stars not going anywhere. But I'm open to changing how it works!

Idea: basing it on ranking/results, then letting the game alter it to display riders in form ++

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Thursday 24.Oct 15:41, 2019

BenAffleck : you couldn't be more wrong :)

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Thursday 24.Oct 15:39, 2019

goon : imagine the satisfaction when there are no stars and your team wins? wouldn't that be great?

BenAffleck [BackstreetBoysN1Fan] Thursday 24.Oct 15:37, 2019
How do you think Ruvu wins this silly game every year? Its not his autistic superpowers, its the star system. We cant let him get away with this anymore.

Koffieplanter [Owari Da] Thursday 24.Oct 15:34, 2019
29th FC-manager overall
I can understand it from that point of view, Tomas. Especially for those who do not participate in the Fantasy Game. However, rather than having a connection to the Game, why not hand out the stars to (the top 10 - 15) of some ranking, albeit the FirstCycling or official UCI one. Just throwing it out there.

goon1221 [Jinx.inc] Thursday 24.Oct 15:34, 2019
10th FC-manager overall - 9th FC-manager last 6 weeks
and the stars deny you that ? .... find a starless one or one Axelgaard didn't mention 🤣 ... and win the game that way.... that's what i call a nice satisfaction

Nathan [CT Glory] Thursday 24.Oct 15:28, 2019
Isn't it about finding the right riders yourself? @Goon

goon1221 [Jinx.inc] Thursday 24.Oct 15:24, 2019
10th FC-manager overall - 9th FC-manager last 6 weeks
no stars no goon... that simple .... it's a HUGE HUGE part of the game... i mean, of course, it seems for some in here as something that narrows the field... but hey... Axelgaard's previews is the guid for this thing anyways...
The stars is the course for this game... no stars no course... it would be redicelous to remove them is my opinionen of the matter ...

@LosBrolin: all the pro players are ;)

I've been no stars -supporter since I can't remember. So, yeah.

Tomas [Second Coming] Thursday 24.Oct 15:09, 2019

We could rather tweek the way the stars works, dumping some hours into the algorithm. For our startlists outside of the game, I loooove the star system. Easy to quickly see who to follow when I'm checking out stuff regarding a race.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Thursday 24.Oct 15:05, 2019
16th FC-manager overall - 17th FC-manager last 6 weeks
I've been an advocate of no stars since I first played the FC game. They make it far too easy to make a competitive team without having to put in any research.

BenAffleck [BackstreetBoysN1Fan] Thursday 24.Oct 14:55, 2019
Disagree, I barely know half the riders I can choose from in any race and this helps me to blindly click some names and come out alright in the end. Thanks for your consideration.

Slobeend [Luicito] Thursday 24.Oct 14:21, 2019

I'm with Koffieplanter. Stars are making the field too narrow.

Koffieplanter [Owari Da] Thursday 24.Oct 13:52, 2019

Suggesting and speaking on behalf of not just myself, but also some others here: would it be possible to remove the favourite stars given at each race in connection to the 2020 Fantasy Game? Removing them altogether might be a bit drastic, but perhaps hide them until the start of a race is an option.

Meers222 [GearsMeers] Wednesday 23.Oct 19:40, 2019
I'm actually fairly happy with my season. Started off real rough but was much more consistent the 2nd half. Got a couple stages of Vuelta and some near misses in overall. Always an enjoyable experience.

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Wednesday 23.Oct 18:20, 2019

Welcome to the game! Glad too see you are enjoying it :)

Minos [DatRadlers] Wednesday 23.Oct 17:56, 2019
I'm here for the first time this year (since july). Apart from a few beginner mistakes, I am reasonably satisfied. I've got 3 Stage Victorys and some good placings (2 points failed to get the first place at the 2019 World Champ. ITT), hopefully I'll do a lot better next year. I've tried some fantasy sites, this one may be the best, so I'm wondering why there are not even more fans playing here. Maybe next year .... I do not want to suggest any improvements, maybe next year, when I get a better look. Keep it up and congratulations to the winners.

This year will be unforgetable with my double win at Uno-X/FC weekend, sorry Andy... :)
Plus London Ride, i took 3 wins wich is remarkable for such an inconsistent manager as myself...
Also very happy with my One Day Races result and the Classics Campaign.
Season competition inside Top30 as always, this year a few places down as a result of very poor performence at Giro and Tour, i think.. :)

Congratulations to Ruvu. Again!!! :))
I hope all the managers will return next year and keep this Competition trully a chalenge!

P.S. A friendly word to you goon for those hard times! Sign of times when we getting old, seeing relatives and friends leaving...

Best yeAr in overall GC. However, i will never forgive Justin Jules for losing Limburg in the line, it cost me the win here.

The highligt of this season must be the HUGE HUGE positive surprise i got from the FC production of Hafjell, Lillehammer and Gylne Gutuer ... if Chrono had half of the info Hafjell had, it would be great to watch yesterday...

I guess it would be wierd if i didn't say anything 🤣
Well.... a very bussy year with my fathers death and inheritance dispute ... moving and my son turn 18 with all it entails.... still manage to partisipate in all the mens races and do allright at top10 ones again... but what i remember is just a painful 0.4 point loss to Tomas in Hafjell ITT 🤣

NUNOBJJ [AMA JIU JITSU] Monday 21.Oct 14:05, 2019

Oh, and I forgot.. Can Ruvu start with a points handicap next year? ;)

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Sunday 20.Oct 20:59, 2019

Francisco grabbed the only win I wanted this season, so not a very good season for me with just Ringerike GP and my now annual jr women TT win. Hope to come back stronger next season, but as long as my biggest goal is just to keep my 100% participation record I don't expect top 50 overall next year.

Nathan [CT Glory] Sunday 20.Oct 20:57, 2019
Awful year for me, let's move on as fast as possible :D

TomBoonenFanboy [TeamBE] Sunday 20.Oct 20:32, 2019

Pretty happy that I took 3 manager of the month titles, 2 in the mens competition and 1 in the womens just by winning 1 race earlier this month :D

Not a bad season altogether probably ending top 10 in the mens competition after finishing 11th 2 years in a row.

Only thing I would like to see changed is a deadline for startlists. Atleast 12 hours before the race seems ok to me.

The Classic bad season saved by Le Tour :)

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Sunday 20.Oct 20:22, 2019

Worst complete season in the overall since I started FC, but did have a massive plus winning Le Tour.

As for the classic game itself would love to see the inception of the knock out cup competition to run along side it, as has been discussed for the last couple of years.

With the season over all but 2 days of Guangxi, I'll open this up now. Please feel free to make any suggestions for the Classic Fantasy game and review your own performance if you wish too.

I'll start the ball rolling - Happy with 5 wins in my new win hunter rather than overall charger role. Poor Worlds though and I was hoping to snatch another u23 win from either of the 2 races there.
