I think Soler just proved that Movistar actually isn't as conservative of a team as everything always thinks they are. I think we get that impression due to the way their race leaders typically race. Valverde typically races more conservatively because he's more than happy to rely on his sprinting ability (something most GC riders don't have). Indurain was more than happy to rely on his TTing abilities. Quintana, well, not sure he knows how to attack. Soler is obviously more than willing to attack and risk everything to try to win it all.

I guess Alberto has already talk to Soler, this guy played great today, well deserved!!
Also De La Cruz again. Luckly, this time, not enough to steal the overall to another spanish... :)

Yep, we are aware of it, nothing we can do until an amended sheet comes out. We'll keep you posted :)

Paul Martens wasn't 17th
He didnt finish the race

Koronin [Koronin] Sunday 11.Mar 19:08, 2018
Congratulations to Marc Soler. He's a fighter. He's proven there is a future for Spanish cycling and that he's ready for more responsibilities within the Movistar team. He's still learning and still getting experience, but this will greatly help with that as well as his confidence.

sker [Team Paracarri] Sunday 11.Mar 00:51, 2018
I would say still 5 in contention here, Yates is not safe. The duoble Izagirre threat is super dangerous, and also Wellens and maybe even Theuns have some cards to play in the final stage

Koronin [Koronin] Friday 9.Mar 17:59, 2018
I read he may have a broken shoulder. Ouch.

Only one of my team finished in the top thirty today, and that was 22nd place. Thinking it could be my worst ever result.

Koronin [Koronin] Wednesday 7.Mar 22:04, 2018
Marc Soler put in a really nice ITT. He's still in it, although I won't go as far to say he's a favorite. However, he's not buckling under the pressure of leadership. This is the first race Movistar has handed him leadership of the team for. So far, so good. The ITT he put him he's put himself in a position to try to get on the podium and possibly win it.

Alaphilippe looked like crap too ... but he fooled me :D best finish of all :))

goon1221 [BMC] Wednesday 7.Mar 10:10, 2018
9th FC-manager overall - 14th FC-manager last 6 weeks
The key stage for Sanchez is not the ITT in my point of view ... he is a desent timetrailist, and in this field without the biggest GC/TT cannons on place, i am not worried... the long finish climb on stage 7 on the other hand, is an whole other story.... not seen him in one of those so far this season ... nobody else either for that matter ... so this will be an interesting stage .... today's ITT parcours is not the power kind with a 8 km 3.5% start .. a long slug descent... a 1 km 8% speed lump 4 km togo sounds like a close race between a lot of guys ... Alaphilippe comes to mind on a course like this :))

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Wednesday 7.Mar 08:30, 2018

Gorka ftw

johnpnewman [Road Rash] Wednesday 7.Mar 04:14, 2018
Alaphilippe should be able to hang in their on the final climb on Stage 7 without losing much time. It is only at 6.2%. Heck, he might win the stage. I doubt it, but I don't see him losing 30 seconds there.
He is favored to win the TT, so it could be an interesting battle between Wellens, Sanches, Poels, Gorka, and Alaphillipe. I would not bet on Ion. Not sure he is recovered from his accident in the TDF.

sker [Team Paracarri] Wednesday 7.Mar 01:09, 2018
It depends from the ITT, the way I see it Sanchez with this gap have a chance but it's still open for many riders to take

Koronin [Koronin] Tuesday 6.Mar 20:36, 2018
I think LL Sanchez has to be the favorite now. Esp since Valverde isn't there to ruin his plans. LOL. However there are a few who can still pull it off. The Izagirre brothers are riding well. Not convinced Alaphilippe is a player for GC at this point. Don't know what to expect from Soler. Poels is also still a threat for GC.

Last year I would agree big with that statement ... but he has been in fire this season ... that's why it feels like he should win this now :))

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Tuesday 6.Mar 17:12, 2018
5th FC-manager overall - 6th FC-manager last 6 weeks
His ITT's haven't been good this year, and the high mountain stage a little too hard for him. For me it is still wide open.

LLS wins this thing now ..... how could they let him go this easy ? ... well rode by Astana though :))

Like I said beforehand there is no french favouritism at hand. The 3km rule does not get applied after a stage finish, but gets decided when the stage is classified beforehand. All Paris-Nice stages except 1 and 7 have the 3km rule.

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 5.Mar 11:39, 2018

Thanks. I guess the TdF ASO jury had their special reasons to classify that stage as flat before the race, thus allowing the 3km rule.

8th FC-manager overall - 9th FC-manager last 6 weeks
I'd like to know what race Andy is referring to. If it's a climb no 3km rule has always been the rule.
And if you check the Paris-Nice road book it even has it written there. No french favouritism at play at all.

goon1221 [BMC] Monday 5.Mar 08:59, 2018
9th FC-manager overall - 14th FC-manager last 6 weeks
I guess the 3 km crash rule got something todo with "risk" or what ever ..... honestly I don't understand the one or the other in that matter .... I guess it got something to do with wining.... someone has wined about something at some point, and we got a rule that nobody can explain with a strait face :D:D

#bulmersgate

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Sunday 4.Mar 22:12, 2018
But the stage I am referring to also had mountain points at finish line ;) But rules may have changed in those 7 years unfortunately.

Tomas [Second Coming] Sunday 4.Mar 22:06, 2018
Andyman drinking Bulmers without informing myself and Logreid? :)

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Sunday 4.Mar 21:49, 2018

It was a classified climb with mountain points. Not just a rising finish.

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Sunday 4.Mar 19:24, 2018
It wasn't that hard and I know about some semi-hilly finishes with 3 km rule before, all of them back in the time however, like 1st stage of 2011 Tour.

Koronin [Koronin] Sunday 4.Mar 18:34, 2018
I'm glad I put TVG as a reserve and not actually on the team it's self. That doesn't mean my team is very good.

What are the chances of the high mountain stage in this, or the Italian race being called off?

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Sunday 4.Mar 13:58, 2018

Suprisingly just below 50% Alaphilippe. I had to fit Soler and Jesus into my team

Tomas [Second Coming] Sunday 4.Mar 13:45, 2018
Atleast selecting captain was an easy operation. My guess is 50% teams with Alaphilippe at the top spot.
