Well David/Cycling Mole and Theuns are friends so nothing weird about it. He refered to the fact that David said him to attack early and "if you go from the bottom of the climb you are a legend". Nice from him to give him a shout out.
I think Bennet was trying to gift the stage to Pelucchi somehow, but I'm not sure about that

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Sunday 15.Oct 20:12, 2017
Never been so close to winning the GC in a stage race...

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Sunday 15.Oct 15:10, 2017
4th FC-manager overall
They are all talking up their chums on Eurosport now. Ted Theuns basically said that he had based todays winning tactics on info he had received from a phone call with the Cycling Mole(David Hunter) this morning. Go from the bottom of the final rise was the info, although I think we all know it would of been in vain had Bennett stayed upright.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Sunday 15.Oct 14:59, 2017
4th FC-manager overall
Never said he was going to be thereabouts everyday Bart. What I did say was that I was surprised he was selected by only three managers out of a hundred. Given that he had some of the best current form, and end of season that is even more important than normal.

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Sunday 15.Oct 14:19, 2017
15th FC-manager overall
Too hilly for him and today he had a bad timed puncture.

BartVelo [BartVelo] Sunday 15.Oct 14:18, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
@Aragonite and Juha, what happened with Benfatto? He was there on the first two stages, no where to be seen after it. I didn't expect him in the Ulissi stages. But in the other stages? Did he work for the team in those stages or tired after the first two?

A nice thank you for the time in Trek from Theuns there .... I guess THIS is how to leave a team :)))

Wow ... Bennett loose everything ....

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Saturday 14.Oct 23:09, 2017

I think they may have had a tweet on there with a stat before but not mentioned that often.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Saturday 14.Oct 23:08, 2017

Strange isn't it' Have you ever heard him mention them before Assassin? I've been listening to him bleat on, for far too many years, and never heard him mention them before.

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Saturday 14.Oct 22:53, 2017
5th FC-manager overall
Exactly my thoughts regarding PCS, i was nearly physically ill when he said the good guys of cycling :D

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Saturday 14.Oct 22:50, 2017
4th FC-manager overall
Been busy today, just watched a recording of todays stage. Wondering if Carlton Kirby has been given a cash backhander off PCS. It is the third day on the bounce that he has mentioned the site, each time in glowing terms. And each time telling viewers that they must visit the site if they are a fan of cycling, as it is full of valuable information.
One of the main reasons I can't stand CK(apart from his totally inaccurate ID'ing of riders) is how he repeats the same old dross over and over again. The fact I have never heard him mention PCS before makes this all the more intriguing.

sker [Team Paracarri] Friday 13.Oct 20:54, 2017
Thought Hansen was still suffering from the fall in stage 1. Masnada and Martinez can give good points to the italian professional teams.
Gavazzi in the end could almost be a GC pick here, crazy offseason racing :D

Anyway terrible parcours here, 3km of moderate climb deciding everything. They should add at least another difficult stage, terrain is not lacking in Turkey

Nathan [CT Glory] Friday 13.Oct 16:16, 2017

I am dropping like a stone by the day!

Nathan [CT Glory] Friday 13.Oct 12:25, 2017

Was thinking Zeits for Astana leader now.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Friday 13.Oct 09:16, 2017
I considered Stalnov, but he's either having a very demanding season adjusting to WT-level after being parachuted in only having ridden at conti level or just not good enough. Apart from Gidich already signed for 2018 I hope Astana shed some of the worse Kazhak riders to accomodate Ulusbayev and Gidich within the next few years.

boris03 [Cycling lions] Friday 13.Oct 08:27, 2017
Jesper Hansen will be Astana's leader today and he can deliver something I think... Also keep an eye on young Masnada and Daniel Martinez

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Friday 13.Oct 07:03, 2017
It was a struggle to find 12 guys for a stage competition on another site (Cyclingfever), apart from your obvious choices. A lot of sprinters and lead-outs, a lot of daily life domestiques now without team leaders and a lot of guys only riding obscure races in Central or Eastern Europe without any satisfying and/or useful results.

Yes, becoming 15th in the Queens stage of the Tour of North East South West Moldova as competitor from the only pro team in the race is a great indication!

sker [Team Paracarri] Friday 13.Oct 04:08, 2017
Atapuma unlikely to be captain here, UAE going for Ulissi and he is my top favourite to won this race.
Mulhberger probably the guy for Bora, Pantano for Trek, Astana maybe Stalnov.
Add a guy from Caja Rural (Arroyo maybe) and not many other even in contention for tomorrow

BartVelo [BartVelo] Thursday 12.Oct 22:31, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
I agree Viktor. It depends on attitude of the team and their rider. See also Coquard situation.

I think that Consonni given that he is young and upcoming has more sprint potential than the older Kump.

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Thursday 12.Oct 18:34, 2017
Benfatto is here for the flat sprints, today and tomorrow is for Gavazzi. I've figured out Kump doesn't sprint much when UAE fields other sprinters in WT races, like Guardini and Consonni. Plus the last one is clearly in shape and is actually capable of surviving a few hills, unlike the shitty climber of Kump. I wouldn't even be surprised if Consonni is a faster sprinter than Kump.

Transfers don't say that much to me. Trentin still wins for Quick Step, Kittel still sprinted for the same team, Theuns still sprints for Trek. It all depends on situation of the sprinter with his team. Plus, why throw away chances on a victory with a leaving sprinter?

BartVelo [BartVelo] Thursday 12.Oct 17:01, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
To continue: Gavazzi - Benfatto.
Today: 93 Marco Benfatto 1988 Androni - Sidermec + 07:32 81 + 07:56

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Thursday 12.Oct 16:00, 2017
These stages are way easier than at a quick glance... I just looked at the profiles quickly and didn't check the actual altitudes and percentages :D

goon1221 [BMC] Wednesday 11.Oct 23:55, 2017
19th FC-manager overall
Hehehe ... two reasons NOT dropping or picking riders for my manager teams .... riders home towns or switching teams next season .... it gets too complicated to me :D

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Wednesday 11.Oct 22:57, 2017
15th FC-manager overall
The CCC transfer is the reason why I chose Consonni as the UAE sprinter. Such things often influence sprinter choices, even though Trek could have sprinted with Van Poppel instead of Theuns because of the exactly same reason, but does not.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Wednesday 11.Oct 22:48, 2017
4th FC-manager overall
I also have Kump. I suppose it's possible he's not being used as the sprinter because he has signed for CCC Sprandi for next year.

goon1221 [BMC] Wednesday 11.Oct 22:25, 2017
19th FC-manager overall
Sker ... I think you were right thinking Kump vs Consonni .... in my book, Kump is way faster .... but he was involved in the crash on stage 1 and went down ... he was among the last guys to cross the finish line of those who was obststructed by it ... so I guess he went down pretty hard ....

sker [Team Paracarri] Wednesday 11.Oct 21:51, 2017
Benfatto was a very good pick, I actually missed him in the startlist and went for Gavazzi who can survive also some climbs.
Also surprised by Consonni sprinting, I thought UAE was for Kump.
Noticeable for someone like me who gambled on him is Konig not ok yet losing 12 min in two flat stages

goon1221 [BMC] Wednesday 11.Oct 17:00, 2017
19th FC-manager overall
But kudos to those who pick Benfatto .... this is how to win games :)))

goon1221 [BMC] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:52, 2017
19th FC-manager overall
Bart .... I still think the plan from the start was to go with Gavazzi to pick up bonus sec along the way, and in the sprints, to defend on the mtf. ... but change of plans after Benfattos great sprint yesterday .... pure guessing of course :)))

Nathan [CT Glory] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:41, 2017
14th FC-manager overall
I will take 28th on this stage with 2 of my sprinters already out!

BartVelo [BartVelo] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:40, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
After this stage Benfatto was not a one time thing yesterday, he confirms today. So great call by you two. Bad judgement from me.

And yeah too easy for Sam indeed.

I wonder if Theuns has more potential in future to become a fast pure sprinter. I see him more as a classic guy who is also fast. Not as a pure sprinter.

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:33, 2017
2nd FC-manager overall
too easy for Bennett again

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:31, 2017
2nd FC-manager overall
and yeah 2/2 Aragonite

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:30, 2017
2nd FC-manager overall
Think they are equally fast on a pure flat kick, Gavazzi usually needs some hills to shake pure sprinters off and actually Benfatto was the last guy on their train when it was like 5km to go. Anyway, at this time of a year it's mainly about who has the form left and I thought he would have some after that Chinese race you mentioned.

This being said there are ofc few suitable stages for Gavazzi if he just has legs

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:25, 2017
4th FC-manager overall
I think it was always going to be between Malucelli and Benfatto. Then they pulled Malucelli late on. Benfatto was clearly better of the two in China anyway. As for the field take out Bennett and Theuns and the rest are pretty much third division. Benfatto in the form of his life, when most have given up for the year, looked a pretty solid bet, for me anyway.

goon1221 [BMC] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:14, 2017
19th FC-manager overall
Gavazzi was obststructed by the crash wasn't he ... maybe theres a little luck involved here .... we'll see today :)))

BartVelo [BartVelo] Wednesday 11.Oct 16:01, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
Really? Benfatto did well in China in very short stages and with a field way worse then here is. I thought Gavazzi would be the sprinting man here, so teamorders would favor Gavazzi, but I guess I'm wrong.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Wednesday 11.Oct 15:54, 2017
4th FC-manager overall
You have both too, don't you? Was surprised only three selected Benfatto to be honest.

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Wednesday 11.Oct 15:20, 2017
2nd FC-manager overall
sneaky move to put Benfatto 125% senior! and in Belgium race you got Peyskens as well, amazinggg

Nathan [CT Glory] Wednesday 11.Oct 14:52, 2017

But not a lot will have Porsev (ofc I do)

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Wednesday 11.Oct 14:51, 2017

Me too. But as you say a lot will have Jules and Chernetski.

BartVelo [BartVelo] Wednesday 11.Oct 14:46, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
In this pace I wonder if I have a rider left for the final standing points haha
2 out of my 9 (like many players here I suppose)

Nathan [CT Glory] Wednesday 11.Oct 14:43, 2017
14th FC-manager overall
Some more bad news, Chernetski crashed and now is on his way to the hospital. DNF

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Wednesday 11.Oct 00:17, 2017
15th FC-manager overall
Prades got 9th place now.

If Jules had been injured in the crash final km today he would not be DNF, so he must have DNF'd earlier on the stage.

Justin Jules injured in the crash today ?

Well done Aragonite, regarding Benfatto.

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Tuesday 10.Oct 20:46, 2017

As long as they don't do anything to Benfatto, I don't mind what they do.

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Tuesday 10.Oct 20:22, 2017

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Tuesday 10.Oct 20:15, 2017

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Tuesday 10.Oct 20:13, 2017

PCS has now no longer Prades as DNF, and now have him as finishing 75th. One of the first pieces of info I remember you giving me Andy was do not trust PCS, wait for the official result. I stand corrected.

Erythropoietin [Erythropoietin] Tuesday 10.Oct 17:11, 2017

ye i did see a caja rural in the sprint, yet none of em in the top 50? mistake for sure

Prades is not DNF, very likely a 10th place for him

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Tuesday 10.Oct 17:03, 2017

Jules, Prades, and Saez all DNF.

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Tuesday 10.Oct 16:06, 2017

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Monday 9.Oct 18:30, 2017

Don't complain about this one or Erdogan's gunna come for u :D

sker [Team Paracarri] Monday 9.Oct 18:24, 2017
I just assumed that if the race starts there are the security and political condition to race it. The pollution situation in China seems bad, hopefully they have a plan to make it safe otherwise we will have a lot of rider DNF early.

Anyway startlist here and in china is made at 90% by riders that struggled this season, coming back from injury, team reserves and young riders. Almost everybody who had a succesful season is already on holiday planning the next one

BartVelo [BartVelo] Monday 9.Oct 16:55, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
Nathan meant performance.

The UCI must held safety and health criteria into account before allowing/organising a race at that place, I hope....

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 9.Oct 15:22, 2017
But pollution is really cyclic in China and factories are sometimes forced to close down etc. to make the air better for certain time periods. So maybe the government of Guangxi has such a plan implemented to reduce industrial production arount the race in certain cities. Also the time of day can change the air quality drastically. So if the organisers know the situation from stage to stage that can also be used to better the air quality..

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 9.Oct 15:18, 2017
respiration? Yes, definitely. 0-50 is considered good. Up tp 100 is fine for healthy people, but the higher it goes the less oxygen you gain from the air and the more pollutants are in your lungs.

When AQI was over 240 on bad days we would jus tnot leave the appartment in Hangzhou. Walking stairs would exhaust me. So 180 in Lianzhou would definitely have an effect on the athletes.

Nathan [CT Glory] Monday 9.Oct 15:13, 2017
14th FC-manager overall
So this will influence prestations?

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 9.Oct 15:07, 2017
Quick google - max AQI in the last 48 hours:
Lianzhou 180
Nanning 159
Guilin 152

That counts as "Moderately Polluted" - Slight irritations may occur, individuals with breathing or heart problems should reduce outdoor exercise.

But anything over 120 sucks and you notice it just from walking around.

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 9.Oct 15:00, 2017
I've only been to Guilin and Guilin mountains in Guangxi. The air there was better than in Hangzhou where I lived for about 6 months. In Hangzhou I only took my bike out on really good days, otherwise the air felt like cancer once you started exercising. Out in the countryside in Guilin it was fine however, but around any bigger cities the air quality drops drastically. Not optimal for a cycling race in any matter.

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Monday 9.Oct 14:20, 2017
2nd FC-manager overall
Can we expect air pollution level to be sky high on Guangxi or how's that area usually? I got only bad memories from Chinese races tbh

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 9.Oct 11:59, 2017
China has the great benefit of an growing cycling market (for any market/company actually). So teams will show up there. Turkey? Pff. Americans can't even get tourism visa since today. thousands arrested yadda yadda. Without tha last two years of politics in Turkey, I'm sure the startlist would be a lot different.

BartVelo [BartVelo] Monday 9.Oct 10:37, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
Guangxi startlist is not bad actually I think. Van Avermaet is riding there also I read.

goon1221 [BMC] Monday 9.Oct 10:20, 2017
19th FC-manager overall
The by far worst start list in the history of world tour bike racing :D I guess you're both right ... and if we add the more lucrative ( jet lag acclimation required ) tour de Guangxi next week, we got the worst timing EVER for a wt race :D the perfect storm :D

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 9.Oct 09:08, 2017
Who would have thought, that instability and political turmoil would have this effect?

sker [Team Paracarri] Monday 9.Oct 06:45, 2017
Looks like a pretty poor startlist for a WT race. Seems that word tour points and sponsor money did not convince many top riders to prolong their season

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Thursday 5.Oct 16:17, 2017

Stage profiles can be found in each link. At the top.
