So close this time! 2nd place also thanks to the win by Canola. J
Just missed out on Travis Mc Cabe on this. Expected Senni to be the 2nd GC guy from BMC, but lost too many time early

What is this .... a 2 km 5% ish climb in this circuit ? Looks like a fun thing anyway :))) and the gc fight is not over ... Powless would like to try something i'm sure :)))

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Sunday 6.Aug 00:06, 2017

Very close for second overall now. So could be a great circuit race tomorrow.

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Sunday 6.Aug 00:05, 2017
1-2 for Bardiani 1 Ciccone 2 Sterbini 3 Powless 4 Mannion 5 Britton 6 Tvetcov 7 Senni

Powless only a few seconds before the duo behind him

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Saturday 5.Aug 23:37, 2017
Bookwalter and Eisenhart didn't make it.

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Saturday 5.Aug 22:53, 2017

Fun stage now. Bookwalter and Eisenhart attacked and has a minute on group Britton. They both have a team mate each and BMC has Bohli up the road, while Britton is down to Kuss and De Vos. Think Bookwalter takes the GC win today.

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Friday 4.Aug 21:32, 2017
What a joke. This race should change it's name to 'Drafting behind team cars of Utah'

Pleased they didn't win. Crazy tactics imo.

Räim ftw today

sker [Team Paracarri] Thursday 3.Aug 02:24, 2017
46 seconds in only 9 km is a lot. But on paper he can gain time in all the last 3 stages.
But now he is forced to attack making the race more interesting

Indeed :)

Second coming of Tsatevich?

Interesting to note Marco Bernardinetti received a 20 second time penalty. No Doubt for his drafting of Wild Bill Barta for a good while.

Bookwalter has some work to do on Snowbird if he doesn't take back some time from the intermediate to finish line today.

It has, maybe not this year, but definitely in the past, especially when he had CN Norway ITT manager.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 31.Jul 20:10, 2017
Yeah - I think a few, but will have to check once I'm back on a regular computer - doing Colombia-research on cellphone is a might hassle.

Live update from Partykjeppen cabin: there is a small mouse here, and I can neither kill it nor put on Utah just yet as kids just fell asleep. Doing crosswords and drinking wine instead #40andCool

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Monday 31.Jul 19:24, 2017
Has it ever been so dominated by 1 captain?

Tomas [Second Coming] Monday 31.Jul 17:14, 2017

He's on all teams but two - plus the 4 DNS.

I think maybe dropping Bookwater may not have been the best gamble. Still, there was does rumours about his lady being sad, since her aunts dog was injured earlier today..

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Monday 31.Jul 16:21, 2017

Biggest loss is commentator Tim Johnson. He's way better than any other I've heard this season.

goon1221 [BMC] Monday 31.Jul 16:21, 2017

I think we can agree .... this is really a fun part of the seson to be a cycling fan :)))

Now thats another problemo :) Didnt see it was about what to watch, but what to follow, and I, ofc, will check VoC results first.

Ole A.Fikerud [The Rockets] Monday 31.Jul 16:08, 2017

Where can we follow Colombia, Tomas? And what time?

Tomas [Second Coming] Monday 31.Jul 16:02, 2017

Binky-Banky and Millar Utah, well well. Atleast my vote goes to Vuelta a Colombia!

Ole A.Fikerud [The Rockets] Monday 31.Jul 16:02, 2017

Rally Cycling and Axeon alone will make Utah very entertaining. Too bad BMC looks very strong. They should control the race pretty easy. Hopefully some altitude will make the europeans struggle a bit more than normal.

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Monday 31.Jul 15:56, 2017
15th FC-manager overall
On paper, only one good stage in Binck Bank and that's the Muur one. Bit disappointing with no Empire Pass in Utah though, but races with not that good peloton is often very entertaining, especially with small teams, here it is big teams though, and then I am talking about 8-men teams.

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Monday 31.Jul 15:52, 2017

aka i'm with Ole on this one

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Monday 31.Jul 15:51, 2017

There's no mountains in Eneco though :)

Nathan [CT Glory] Monday 31.Jul 15:51, 2017

Bincbank for me. Might be because I am dutch though.

Ole A.Fikerud [The Rockets] Monday 31.Jul 15:46, 2017

I'm aware, and I don't agree.

goon1221 [BMC] Monday 31.Jul 15:40, 2017

You realize Eneco or Bink Bank as it wierdly enough is called now, is befor Vuelta also Ole :D i say .... THAT'S the most watchable race pre vuelta :)))

Ole A.Fikerud [The Rockets] Monday 31.Jul 15:14, 2017

I'm going all american (and one Canadian). Let's go altitude.

Ole A.Fikerud [The Rockets] Monday 31.Jul 15:11, 2017

Whats wrong with this field? This is gonna be the funnest race before the Vuelta. Lots of climbing and fun stages with a lot of interesting attacking riders.

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Monday 31.Jul 14:07, 2017

This is short? About time to grow up Partyman.

February is difficult because of the winter, that's why California moved from February to May many years ago.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 31.Jul 13:46, 2017
On cellphone these days, so keeping it shortish. Several key points raised here, and as I see it:

1.) Koronin can correct me, but I perceive the US as obsessed with winners. So when there are no auS superstars as Viktor highlights - cycling is even more niche in mainstream media after NHL, MLB, NBA, MLS etc.

2.) The US is a huge and very fragmented market. And I'm pretty sure the three current stage races with decent participnts (California, Utah, Colorado) are organized locally. Given sponsorship issues in at last the latter two recently, either combining to form or being bought by a single entity (ASO/RCSish) would be better. More leverage with media, sponsors, teams and UCI - also more leeway to try to build new events around the races.

3.) Calendar is definitely key. Utah and Colorado have done their best in organizing in adjecent weeks, but ideally I'd have one on each side of the Canadian weekend. Easier to get better teams with great riders actually looking to peak for the period. Issues with Alberta, but still. I guess the climate isn't that hospitable in all possible destinations then, but late January + Febuary could also be a good slot for US races.

4.) Time is ripe - play to his ego and pitch a revival of Tour de Trump...

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Monday 31.Jul 13:05, 2017
5th FC-manager overall
Might not be the best startlist ever but as Partykjepp mentioned, it's a chance for the younger riders to test themeselves. There's always a lot of races in early august anyway, one or two races are always going to have weak startlists.

BartVelo [BartVelo] Monday 31.Jul 13:03, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
Prize Money? From the organiser?

Tomas [Second Coming] Monday 31.Jul 12:56, 2017
30th FC-manager overall
Or just throw money at it...

BartVelo [BartVelo] Monday 31.Jul 12:54, 2017
18th FC-manager overall
The place on the calendar is the biggest problem. If they would create a period of a month for example to have multiple races in the USA with stage races aswell as 1 day races than that would be attractive for the better riders to go to while there are no other races in Europe. Because they aren't coming for just 1 race, but multiple.
But where to find a month with no race in Europe for example....
It would need a total reshape of the calendar and I won't see that happen.

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Monday 31.Jul 12:35, 2017
I think the lack of decent American cyclists is a problem as well, for all of these Tours there. The last riders of the Armstrong generation retired the last few years. Less teams feel obligated to start in the US, without a semi team leader from the USA, hsving made a goal out of this race

A few years ago they had guys like Leipheimer, Danielson en Horner for these races, while currently only Van Garderen en Talansky are decent GC guys in the WT, but their European programme is more important for the teams. They don't have a top sprinter, like Tyler Farrar in the past, anymore as well.

And yes, the place on the calendar doesn't help either. Next to these two, youve CSS and Poland as well. A lot of competition and Utah already wasn't the major American tour, like California has.

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 31.Jul 12:08, 2017
Ride London Classic becoming WT and Eneco being in August has really cost Utah those 3-4 WT teams.

The route looks good though and the tourtracker alone will make me watch as much as I can.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 31.Jul 11:51, 2017
Significant downgrade on earlier years, not even Cannondale turning up. A handful of interesting youngsters though

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Monday 31.Jul 11:17, 2017
Wha a horrible field.
