Santos Tour Down Under comments [newest on top]

Koronin [Koronin] Tuesday 23.Jan 02:11, 2018
Partykjeppen Just read an article talking about Valverde's recovery. His doctors were saying that what takes most people 3 months of rehab to do he was doing in 1 month. They basically said it's his genetics. They had no other real explanation for it. They also said in some ways he's still very much that 18 year old kid who just aged out of the Junior ranks instead of the 37 year old veteran he actually is. They also said don't expect him to retire anytime soon. He has too much enthusiasm, passion and love for the sport along with a lot of ambition. So you might be onto something about bottling up his genetics. (As for the hair loss, that seems to be typical for many Spaniards).

Koronin [Koronin] Saturday 20.Jan 20:33, 2018
I'm going with no one expected that. Also Gorka ahead of Ion. Although I guess we do need to give Ion a bit of a break since this is his first race back from his very serious injury from his crash in the opening ITT of the Tour. His injury actually was more serious than Valverde's.

See that, that I didn't expect

Impey. The fuck? :D

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Wednesday 17.Jan 23:49, 2018
Gorka and Pozzovivo doing their best impression of the Michelton 1-2 last night.

Great to Stijn Vandenbergh properly back the font of the peloton again after his injury last spring.

Thanks Viktor, fixed now.

Hey guys, I think there's some mistake. William Clarke was the on the attack with the all the bonuses, not Simon Clarke. http://tourdownunder.com.au/tours-and-news/men/race-results

Tdu, advertising signs and norwegians is not a good match obviously .... Hoelgaard with a face first in the sprint .... yaks....

Greipel won the stage. Great, my favourite sprinter of all sprinters. WWoS used to have good streams, but now only accesible from Australia.

Jspear [Jspear] Tuesday 16.Jan 04:18, 2018
When can we see each others teams? :) :P

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Monday 15.Jan 23:07, 2018
Clever choice. It is after all the most hyped race of the season.

Bit late for any medicine. Think I will be recording for tomorrow.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 15.Jan 22:26, 2018
If Valverde has another all-action season from Feb through October, winning at ease like until the Tour last year with that injury to recover from and a 37-old year body - I’m ditching my testosterone and getting in line to pass on as much of those genes as possible.

Just not the hair though!

Koronin [Koronin] Monday 15.Jan 22:22, 2018
goon, I think Strade Bianche is the day before P-N. Actually was looking that up yesterday because Valverde is saying he's planning on going back to Strade Bianche this year.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 15.Jan 22:21, 2018
Remember not to reach into the Lobato-medicine before, though.

Great steer Assassin. Didn't think I had the channel, as I've never heard of it. Quick look on the index, and there it is, number 424. And it's live tonight from 1-3am.

Sky showed it live the year before last, the only road race they covered all year. Viewing figures must not of been great.

One thing I decided before I entered the draft fantasy was I wasn't going to let it interfere with my decision making for the main event.
Is that easier said than done? Ruvu noticeably hasn't put himself in that position.

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Monday 15.Jan 22:04, 2018
He at least did some good races there, Sohrabi and Zargari though

No idea in UK, but actually live Norway, wonder how many viewers they expect to get..

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 15.Jan 21:57, 2018
Will he be able to give Edward Beltran’s neo-stint at Saxo a run for it’s money though?

Anyone know where the TDU is being shown/streamed live or recorded?
Think I watched recordings on Tiz last year, but they don't seem to be covering it this year.

Frame may turn out to be better rider than Calvin Watson was during his two years at Trek.

I let my fantasy bias decide the Viviani/Greipel dilemma

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 15.Jan 20:46, 2018
Apart from EF’s Swedish sponsor-signing, Alex Frame is the biggest huh-signing at WT for me this season - Leo Basso gets a free pass for being Moscon’s mate.

Francisco [K92-Team Neverland] Monday 15.Jan 20:38, 2018
23th FC-manager overall
And what about Greipel/Viviani dilema?
You can also add Bennet G./Oomen/Latour... :)
Wondering if I should already start with my risky picks and chose Nathan, who is negotiating with K92’s Team for this summer draft... :)

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 15.Jan 20:07, 2018

My big interest for the cycling sports always start with Paris nice, but when the game is like it is, you need to hang on in a desent way from Tdu though ... so no, I am not quit on just yet :D

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Monday 15.Jan 12:58, 2018
So you are actually ready to start the cycling season? I'm not, so will be interesting to see how good I do it in the start of this season, I can't do better than last year for sure. Expecting my usually bad part of the season to come early this year. Anyway, startlist is final now

goon1221 [BMC] Monday 15.Jan 12:57, 2018

146 teams signed up so far .... that's not nearly enough guys ... COM'N ..... 15 hours togo before the season launches ....

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 15.Jan 09:44, 2018
Could be related to different national federations and whether they help teams/riders out at an earlier stage than the Belgian one does.

johnjackjoe [JohnJackJoe Racing] Monday 15.Jan 09:42, 2018
10th FC-manager overall - 25th FC-manager last 6 weeks
UCI is such a sorry-ass excuse of a federation. Unbelievable

I wonder though why other neo-pros are not affected?

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 15.Jan 09:25, 2018
A LOL is in order. Good thing they slammed shut the opportunity for Lambrecht to blood dope his way to a TDU-victory due to limited bio passport-history!!!111

Seems inexplicably tardy of the UCI not to have responded to Lotto-Soudal's correspondance in this matter to lead them to release this statement. Common sense would be for UCI to expedite a last-minute excemption for Lambrecht, but I can't see them being this agile.

Viktor86 [Le Tour de Brabant] Monday 15.Jan 09:05, 2018
23th FC-manager last 6 weeks
Other neo pro (Lambrecht) is out either:

The UCI has informed Lotto Soudal that neo-pro Bjorg Lambrecht can’t take part in the Tour Down Under. The young Belgian would make his début in the first WorldTour stage race of the season, but the international cycling union prevents that now.

1. Until last year, neo-pros in WorldTour teams needed to undergo three doping controls for their biological passport ahead of the start of their first WorldTour race. From now on this is no longer the case and the rule is applied that those riders need to have filled in their whereabouts at least six weeks (42 days) before the start of their first race. 2. In December the UCI organised three webinars (one in French, English and Spanish) to teach the neo-pros how to use the ADAMS whereabouts system. One day later Bjorg Lambrecht received his login for the ADAMS whereabouts system. However, the English webinar only took place on December 14 (only 33 days before the start of Tour Down Under) and Bjorg received his login on December 15 with the message that he needed to fill in his whereabouts as of December 17 (30 days before the start of Tour Down Under) to be able to start at Tour Down Under. Conflicting with the regulations. Lotto Soudal informed the UCI not to agree with the decision, explained with an extensive argumentation, but without a written confirmation of the UCI that Bjorg can start, neither the rider nor the team can take any risk.

Not the best start of Halvorsens pro career .... in the sprint in people's choice today, he crashed an broke his hand ....

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Sunday 14.Jan 13:58, 2018
Great to be finally back in action and to see all these familiar names of participating managers, good luck to all!

Il Piccolo Partykjepps team goals this year is to finish top 20 with 3 race and 5 stage wins whilst keeping true to the philosophy of making hipster picks regularly.

Ah yes, Gerrans. The most unreliable rider of the last few years. Rather finds himself in the gruppetto than when he was supposed to help a team mate.

Viviani and Greipel have not been fucking around in the off-season, they're looking incredibly lean for sprinters. You could probably crack an egg on the latter's cheekbones.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 8.Jan 18:02, 2018
PartyFinn - looking forward to Gerro instructing all teammates to sit on wheels without contributing and nip past in the final 100 meters!

LosBrolin [JuhaMieto] Monday 8.Jan 16:05, 2018
3rd FC-manager overall - 4th FC-manager last 6 weeks
Gerro should focus on his role as a road captain and domestique from now on. Dude just isn't fast enough nor climbing with the level he once was.

From CN article : "I'm going to get certain objectives but they come based around the goal of helping Richie. That starts in January at the Tour Down Under when we try and defend his title. Then there's a great opportunity at the Cadel Race the weekend after, where I can have a go."

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Monday 8.Jan 15:14, 2018
Who will dare have a punt at Gerrans? Porte/Dennis could be putting favours in the bank for bigger races by superdoming for him here

Great to see that Kristoffer Halvorsen will get some great testing from the start .... Caleb Ewan, Viviani, Greipel and Bennett/Sagan ....
