Main draft January 5th comments [newest on top]

Francisco [K92-Team Neverland] Friday 5.Jan 12:50, 2018
Thanks Logreid!
About U23 list, i was expecting to see two names surviving to the new managers draft but unfortunatly didn't happen...
Finaly, the draft day arrived. Everybody counting guns, everybody wondering how and who will start the caos! :D

Erythropoietin [Erythropoietin] Friday 5.Jan 12:06, 2018
This is the list of U23 riders: http://firstcycling.com/fantasyrank.php?k=U23

Erythropoietin [Erythropoietin] Friday 5.Jan 12:00, 2018
From the rules:
"A rider is stolen by offering him at least double his current wage. U23 riders must however be given at least a four time higher wage to be stolen. In 2017, riders born in 1995 or younger are U23 riders."

So yes, for this 2018 season it means that riders born in 1996, 1997, 1998 etc. are U23 riders.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Friday 5.Jan 11:00, 2018
EPO - Just to make sure and point out to all, in 2018 it's riders born 1996 or later who are in the U23 and thus you have to offer 4x existing wage to steal them?

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Friday 5.Jan 10:17, 2018
DRAFT DAY! I'm excited and hammering away at my list. Hope Steinvik and/or Fjellda answer my texts on possible trades so I don't have to steal the riders instead.

I've got you covered until you arrive, Francisco :)

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Thursday 4.Jan 23:08, 2018
It's either him or the vice-skip who steals him

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Thursday 4.Jan 23:01, 2018
Anyone can have him for 180.

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Thursday 4.Jan 22:27, 2018
The Commander in Chief has sadly been killed :D

Andy [Luxembourg Finest] Thursday 4.Jan 22:19, 2018
The commander-in-chief have heard rumors that he wants to steal your Froomie.

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Thursday 4.Jan 20:39, 2018
You are safe :D

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Thursday 4.Jan 20:35, 2018
Don't do anything to me Assassin, or I will mention the P name.

Assassin [Troy The Trader] Thursday 4.Jan 18:30, 2018
Warning to all new managers

I'm just a bit crazy (Although i think at least Nathan knows that already) :D

Aragonite [TORA TORA TORA] Thursday 4.Jan 18:27, 2018
Going to be interesting to see how all the experienced managers play this main draft.
I'm guessing it is going to be one big slugfest, with lots of steals, and counter steals.
Could be completely wrong though.

Francisco [K92-Team Neverland] Thursday 4.Jan 14:07, 2018
Welcome back Logreid!
Regarding K92-Team Neverland, i'll send you a message with a 5 riders list, in preferenced order.
I've no doubts about the first two names but still to decide who will be alternative 3, 4 and 5.

P.S. It would be great when returning home at 19H45 CET (+/-) i was close to make my second pick!.. :)

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Thursday 4.Jan 13:29, 2018
Hi all,

I'm back from an extended holiday and finally back in action for 2018. Bring it on!

Less than 30 hours until the draft starts. I know JohnJackJoe is off drinking with Assan Bazayev in Astana and will most likely need me to act on his behalf. If anyone else know they can't make it for all, or parts of the draft - you can mail me a list of your planned draft picks (needs to be extensive as there are lots of picks to be made by yourself and others) with wage and contract length to partykjeppen@firstcycling.com and I'll act on your behalf. You all will have to take me at my word when I say I won't let any of these list interfere with my own draft order :)

EPO - I think the current setup should allow new managers to be competitive right from the start and on equal footing with the rest of us by 2019. They all have a solid base now, should have 30 riders by the end of the second window plus the luxury of big budgets to spend. If I'm wrong, there is a corrective measure in the draft order plus we could look at other means if necessary - this expansion is biggest one yet so impossible to be certain :)

Erythropoietin [Erythropoietin] Wednesday 20.Dec 20:23, 2017
They will really be scraping the bottom at the end there, but it helps. Didn't consider giving them two drafts per round?

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Wednesday 20.Dec 19:41, 2017
Thanks EPO. Perhaps 15 is more fair? Leaves them with spaces open, but the chance to save some of their wage budget to max out squad size in summer draft - having space to make signings then isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Erythropoietin [Erythropoietin] Wednesday 20.Dec 18:35, 2017
"8 drafts for existing managers, 12 for new. Draft order is results of 2017 reversed for the existing managers and then our 6 new managers in reverse order from the first round of the pre-draft. 8 regular rounds with one draft each and then 4 drafts at the end where all the new managers draft."

Only 12? They only have 10 riders to begin with, so that only brings them to 22. Meanwhile the mean or average amount of riders for the old managers will be about 21 + 8 = 29. So the new managers will be 7 riders down. If assuming that those are 7 shitty riders only averaging 200 pts each, that's still 1400 pts lost. They basically don't stand a chance with this few riders imo.

"EPO, could you please clarify the special rules which have existed previously on stealing in the final rounds? Are we still doing reverse order in the final round?"

In previous drafts we used this rule (with the top rated managers still being last):
If a rider is stolen from a team after they have completed their draft in the final draft round, the manager will get an extra draft that can be used to either steal a rider back from that team risk-free or to draft an unattached rider. This extra draft is given after the final draft round is completed.

Partykjeppen [Il Piccolo Partykjepps] Wednesday 20.Dec 17:28, 2017
Hello,

End of season-fatigue is long since over and I'm catching up on stages I missed this year in Tour de Suisse and Paris - Nice, starting to get excited for the upcoming season.

First point of business is the main draft, which starts at 19:00 CET on January 5th as posted earlier this fall. Transfer window is open until this.

8 drafts for existing managers, 12 for new. Draft order is results of 2017 reversed for the existing managers and then our 6 new managers in reverse order from the first round of the pre-draft. 8 regular rounds with one draft each and then 4 drafts at the end where all the new managers draft.

EPO, could you please clarify the special rules which have existed previously on stealing in the final rounds? Are we still doing reverse order in the final round?

With this many managers and drafts to get through, the plan and rules are the following:

Friday January 5th: 19:00-00:00 - if a manager doesn't make his draft within 10 minutes, we skip to the next pick. This missed pick can be made whenever.

After midnight it's slow drafting (ie. please check in frequently, but no time limitation) up until:

Saturday January 6th: 19:00-00:00 - same time requirements, a picks are skipped if not made within 10 minutes

After midnight on January 6th we slow draft any and all remaining drafts.

This should be a solution which should make the draft run smoothly and (hopefully) get it done over two evenings and not like until now without any clear guidelines of skipping picks of no-shows.

As always I'll be at hand to make picks for people who can't make it or can't be around for the full duration of the draft.

Also, no one takes Dusan Rajovic before I've made my first pick.
